One of the biggest surprises
One of the biggest surprises for me this year was discovering how much I really dug the latest
Constantines record, Shine A Light.
I caught the tail-end of their set in Halifax last year, and really thought they
were sortakinda just ok. But I kept hearing different songs off the new record, and man,
they really stuck. I’m just sayin’…
There’s also a video for
“Nighttime/Anytime”. Note that it takes approximately one bazillion years to load, and is full of raccoons.
My Morning Jacket has a new single/ep out
for “Run Thru” (Realaudio). Tracks are:
- Run Thru
- Breathin’ (Jim James 4-track recording)
- Old September Blues (Virgin Radio live)
Insound offers their ever-popular
15%-off discount via code “runthru“.
Austin’s Peek-A-Boo Records is
having a holiday sale through January 1st. All Peek-A-Boo releases are 50% off. All other
(non Peek-A-Boo) items are 10% off. This might be a really good time to pick up those
latest albums by Black Lipstick or Palaxy Tracks ($5 each). Or the Spoon
30-Gallon Tank 7″ for $1.75. Even the new EP by
I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness is available for $7 and change, which is as
cheap as you’ll find it.
If you’re stalking me, here’s your reference for the weekend:
12/5 - Ida w/His Name Is Alive - The Warhol, Pittsburgh
12/7 - Bishop Allen - Studio 35, Columbus
Finally, via Aeki Tuesday, I found this little
nugget:
Billboard: The soundtrack [CD] to…Queer Eye for the Straight Guy…will also include…a track mixing
music from Fischerspooner and Billy Squier.
Um.
Yeah.
That thounds reeeaaal goood.
