Quite a few good releases
Quite a few good releases out today. Certainly you should check out The Mountain Goats‘
We Shall All Be Healed, and The Walkmen’s Bows and Arrows, but there are others worthy of a listen as well.
Centro-Matic - Flashes and Cables EP

My favorite song from Love You Just The Same gets the EP treatment. It’s six
songs: the title track plus five others from the same sessions. (on Misra, FWIW).
Jens Lekman - Maple Leaves EP

The Swede popster I mentioned a few months ago. Remember? The one who has
the fascination with Rocky Dennis from “Mask”. Secretly Canadian is
releasing this, his first US release.
Elephant Micah - The Untied States Of Elephant Micah
This guy probably woulda slipped under my radar if I didn’t recall Frank
mentioning that he was worth checking out. Good in a folkyish-singer-songwriter-hometaper kinda way.
The Robot Ate Me - On Vacation

This one’s really bizarro. Imagine Sparklehorse playing through your Victrola in
1934; that’s the closest approximation I can come up with. And it’s a limited edition of 5000, which comes with: On Vacation, Parts 1 & 2 (Double CD), 12 page, hand sewn and numbered, full color booklet, 1 full color poster (8.5×11), 1 page of lyrics and other ranting, 1 postcard & sticker, 1 cd of 10 bsides (21 minutes), and a Polaroid with the first 50 or so orders.

Also, I heard that Richard Buckner signed to Merge, which
is good news. Hopefully it will help get his records into more people’s hands.
