Frank pointed out that Centro-Matic’s Will Johnson is releasing a new record, Vultures Await, September 7th on Misra. Two mp3s:
Fan cover versions of Spoon songs. From Mr. ToT.
Robot mark has followed up that Wrens‘ “This Boy Is Exhausted demo posting with an “Everyone Choose Sides demo post. In this instance, it pretty much just boils down to a less-distorted version of the song. If this all makes you decide to become a demo-chaser, note that the track “Miss Me”, which appears on the 1999 Drive-Thru Sampler is effectively the demo version of “Boys, You Won’t”, and “Stands For Love v.3 or 4″, which is the demo of “Faster Gun”, is available on the Ladies and Gentlemen issue 1 disc.
From Matador comes news about a new M Ward record. Should be out in January (on Merge in the US, of course). Twill be called Transistor, and feature appearances by Jim James, Beth Orton, Jenny Lewis, Howe Gelb, John Parish, Vic Chestnutt, Rachel Blumburg (The Decemberists), and more.
Travis Morrison will have an album out on Barsuk in September.
The Elliott Smith record will be out in October on Anti.
It seems that stereogum somehow found the patience to figure how to work that new Badly Drawn Boy site, and discovered a full mp3 lurking there:
In a similar vein, hey, guess what, there’s a new Mull Historical Society record out, called This Is Hope. As I’m finding a lot lately, there doesn’t seem to be a US release slated. And though Colin was kind enough to provide a track-by-track analysis of the new album, it looks like he forgot to post any mp3s for us to sample. Suck.
Also just out is the new Bitter Bitter Weeks record.
And the s/t album by The Pink Mountaintops is out now too.
At this very moment, I’m really digging on this track, from the upcoming album Okay USA, by Marty:
Marty = Marty Anderson (Jacques Kopstein, Dilute, Howard Hello), and Okay USA is supposed to be out “soon” on Absolutely Kosher.
Latest from the aggregating/scraping/etc. camp: mp3blogs.org.
Finally, note that right about now marks the 1-year anniversary of Hipster Bingo. If it still works in your town, a year later, think about what that means. Because I’m not really sure what it means.
