Califone, Billy Bragg, Destroyer’s Rubies
Tomorrow’s the first time in a long time that you *need* to get down to the record store. But besides the big new titles that we all know are out tomorrow, don’t forget there are a few decent reissues as well, including Thrill Jockey’s re- of Califone’s first record, Roomsound. If you’re feelin’ all protesty, there are 2 Phil Ochs reissues out on Collector’s Choice/Hepcat (All The News That’s Fit To Sing and I Ain’t Marching Anymore). And if you’re feeling protesty, but in a “Bollocks to Thatcher England!” sort of way, remember that all those mega double-disc Billy Bragg Yep Roc reissues are out tomorrow as well.
Okay, so I managed to avoid reminding you *explicitly* that Destroyer’s Rubies is out tomorrow, but I would be remiss if I didn’t point out Merge’s “Deface Destroyer” contest.
I’ve come up with some doozies already.
*Also of note: Matt LeMay comes out of retirement to review D’s Rs for the ‘Fork.
