“Rare, never-before-heard-on-the-internet tracks from the band Vampire Weekend have just surfaced and are presented here for download” …is the phrase that would bring a kazillion hits to any web site right now. I mean, Christ man, I think they’ve actually somehow skipped “backlash” altogether and gone straight to “backlash at the backlash.” Besides the countless articles predicting a massive overhype and backlash scenario, there are even blog posts out there now analyzing OTHER ANALYSES of people’s reactions to Vampire Weekend. This internet thing mutates shit in some weird ways.

I’m just saying, this Vampire Weekend thing is nuts out there. I mean, Bob Lefsetz has already piped in (he hates them). Plus, it’s like, already one of those cases where if you’re too cheap to buy the album, too clueless to torrent it, and too lazy to google “vampire weekend megaupload,” you can basically hit up hypem and elbows and pretty much pull a “Pokemon Gotta Catch ‘Em All” on all the tracks without breaking a sweat.

I, for one, don’t hate them. I quite enjoy their (HARMLESS AND ENJOYABLE, people) lil’ pop album, and I stick to what I said about them before.
