Our friendly friends over at Friendly Fire just released Drawn To Dust, the debut album by Camphor — you may have already caught the Playmobil-y video for “Castaway” that went around last week. Anyhoo, Camphor is a band that was pulled together by flim-composer Max Avery Lichtenstein (Tarnation, Jesus’ Son). Max was lookin’ to explore songwriting without the whole “matching-it-up-to-a-film” thing, and Drawn To Dust is what came out. Give it a listen; reminds me a bit of Beck’s Sea Change songs (or that one Eternal Sunshine one):
