Music In Print
Just so I’m not misunderstood: there’s no gleeful schadenfreude (ala Gawker) here about the current problems with the Print Industry, I’m just passing along facts…
Crain’s has reported Q1 ad sales figures for some of the big music mags. It ain’t good.
Rolling Stone $31 million (down 27%)
Spin $8 million (up 27% from 2007)
Vibe $18 million (down 19% from 2007)
Hypebot asks: “ARE MUSIC MAGAZINES DOOMED?”
Answer: yes. Though there are still a lot of smaller guys left to fall before the big 4 mentioned above. I still expect we’ll see *at least* one more mag (and one more indie label) pack it in before we hit the midpoint of the year.
