Monday Afternoon News
Bada Bing recently released the debut full-length, Carefree, from Schmilssonesque young singer Devon Williams. You may recall me mentioning him to you back in February.
I think it would make a hell of a lotta sense to pair this kid up on a tour with Cass McCombs; you booking agents out there listening?
Deciding to follow that “new model” where you give away your album and ask for donations, Kyle Fischer (formerly of Rainer Maria) has put together Black Milk, which you can download from End Up Records.
Kaz’s eSurance commercial starts airing nationally today. You should be seeing it pretty soon.
SSLYBY have a Carson Daly taping tonight which’ll air on Thursday. As soon as you get over the shocking realization that Carson Daly still has that show, go find out where and when it airs so you can check out the Yeltsin guys on Thursday.
Our friends in SF’s Sweetie have put together a new 7-inch that’s being put out by our friends at Gold Robot. Saturdays is a limited-edition 4-song 7-inch (& digital) on red vinyl, in hand-screened sleeve. Order here at Gold Robot.

They have a 12″ coming out on Secretly Canadian on 5/20.
Music Go Music may not be my cuppa tea per se, but I tellya, I give major credit to SC for continually putting out stuff that challenges the norms (Antony, anyone?). In a world where styles are increasingly being defined by the majority consensus of the crowd (3 cheers for social networking and peer influence! Let’s gravitate everything toward that bland middle point of the bell curve!), we need labels like SC more than ever.
And RIP Lonpaul Ellrich, a staple player of many Bloomington, IN bands, including the seminal 90’s power poppers United States Three.
