New Zealand’s Bats Return

The BatsLegendary kiwi rockers The Bats are to return this April with The Guilty Office, their first album of new material since 2005 (it’ll be their 8th LP overall). It’s coming out on Hidden Agenda and is available for pre-order now from Parasol.

The record will be preceded in April by the 7″ Don’t You Rise EP, which collects four tracks from 1998-2003 and will be released by the mighty Slumberland Records.

In other kiwi news, there’s a rumor making the rounds that 2009 will also bring a new record from The Clean (on Merge, of course).

Anyway. It came out in NZ in December or so, and you can get the digital version for about $10 USD at amplifier.co.nz

The CD will only costs a couple dollars more but will likely set you back an arm or a leg for shipping.

I went ahead and bought it in December because I hadn’t heard anything about a pending US release in the near future. This is good news.

[...] As I mentioned last month, Hidden Agenda has done us Yanks a solid by picking up kiwi rock legends The Bats‘ latest, The Guilty Office, for a US release. It’s slated for release on 6/23, and from the sound of “Castle Lights,” looks to be another slab of lovely, jangly, Bats goodness. [...]
