one of their Tortoise-y tracks at the Southern website.

Back Up mp3

The new solo effort from Pinback’s Rob Crow, My Room Is A Mess, is out on Absolutely Kosher

Some Things mp3

Cento-Matic‘s new album, Love You Just The Same, will drop
“some time in the fall” on Misra.

The Light Fingered Feeling Of Sushirobo, the band’s
latest, will be out in September on Pattern 25. They’re currently doing a West Coast Tour.

BF has the tracklist for the new Death Cab record, Transatlanticism, which
drops on Barsuk on October 7th. Reminder: The Postal Service District Sleeps Alone Tonight EP drops on July 8th. KEXP
has been playing the “Suddenly Everything Has Changed” cover a lot. It’s definitely decent.

Item 1 Bailey recently

Item 1
Bailey recently
informed me that the More
Than Music Fest
schedule was just updated with some new acts. Scheduled for
the weekend of July 11, it looks like it’s already shaping up to be hotta. The bill
already includes Aesop Rock, RJD2, Mr. Lif, Bonnie Billy, Party of Helicopters,
Songs:Ohia, Ex-Models, These Arms Are Snakes, The ECC, Teeth Of
The Hydra, plus many many more.
Should be better for me than last year, when I walked up to pay,
asked the guy at the door how long the Walkmen had been playing, was
told they just started, paid, and got to the stage just as the Walkmen
finished “Wake Up” and walked off the stage.

Item 2
In case you missed it, ILM
thread in which Momus responds to BF’s slamming of his new album
.

Item 3
Just heard that Fischerspooner have been
confirmed as the Keynote presentation at this year’s MacWorld
Creative Pro Expo
in NYC, July 17th. For some reason, I find this incredibly funny. Anyway, if
you can’t wait til then to see ‘em, they be playin’ in Boston on June 27th w/Iggy Pop, tha YYYs, and Hot Hot Heat.

Item 4
Apparently, Skating Club has a new album out on July 21 on
Wishing Tree Records. I really dug
the previous album, so I’m looking forward to checking it out. Recommended if you like indie rock
of the Softy McQuiet variety (Low, Ida, Spain, &c.).

Item 5
July tour dates for Spoon w/The Natural History:

Sat July 12 Seattle, WA The Showbox
Sun July 13 Portland, OR Berbati’s Pan
Tue July 15 San Francisco, CA Fillmore
Fri July 18 Los Angeles, CA El Rey
Sat July 19 San Diego, CA Cane’s
Sun July 20 Tempe, AZ Nita’s Hideaway

If you somehow find yourself in Pittsburgh this weekend, I’ll see you at
the Sondre Lerche / Ed Harcourt show tonight, and the Wilco free show on Saturday.
Boo. Yah.

In a news blurb that

In a news blurb that reads strangely like an Onion article,
NME is reporting that
the Polly Fonnick Spree
has signed to Hollywood Recs, who will
re-release their album on June 24. It starts to get weird though
due to the fact that Hollywood’s parent Co. is Disney, whose label head
was quoted as saying:

“I can use the theme parks, television, the ABC family, our theatrical division,
and other areas to break this band…”

Sounds totally bizarre to me, but it just. might. work.

Largeheartedboy had the heads-up on

Largeheartedboy had the heads-up on a review of the New Pornographers’ Electric Version,
written by Franklin Bruno for Seattle Weekly.

Thankfully, it’s quite a bit more in-depth than my recent review, and
probably won’t piss anyone off (quite unlike mine).

The Pornies are on Letterman tonight.

Also, speaking of pissing people off, Peefork has once again done a bang-up job of it with “
So Much for the Afterglow: The 20 Worst Post-Breakup Debacles
“. I’ve already read plenty of muzikbloggers angered and defending some of the
stuff appearing on that list, but I swear to Christ, if I ever have to hear that Big Audio Dynamite “Globe” song one more fucking time, I will have
to eat my own head.

My Morning Jacket played last

My Morning Jacket played last night. And though I may occasionally complain about show turnout
in this town, last night I was definitely not
so bothered by it. I mean, I had to crowd past
at least 8 people to get to the front of the
stage. BWAH-HA-HA-HA! It was great though. I
think they might be my favorite band, I just haven’t
fully realized it yet.

They play Bonnaroo on Friday,
and I expect you’ll have to crowd past more than 8 people to get to the front
there.

Indie Rock Live
has a full live show from 2001 for your listening pleasure.

Now, play “Guess Which Band Is My Morning Jacket

Clem Snide’s new album, Soft

Clem Snide‘s new album, Soft Spot, drops in June. Check out
this most-excellent song, All Green, from the album.
[via Catherine]

Pretty Girls Make Graves‘ new album for Matador, The New Romance, drops
in September. They offer up All Medicated Geniuses.
[via Tim Thompson]

Vvrssnn‘s new record, titled,
appropriately enough, Vvrssnn, dropped
last week. Groove on COEM Out K Hole, which features 2/3 of Modest Mouse, unless
you count Gallucci, in which case it would be 1/2. But then again,
Jeremiah Green doesn’t count anymore, so, 1/3. Or wait. Should their new drummer
be counted as a member of the band? I mean, I guess so. Technically he is
“in the band”, but still. I’m just gonna call it 3/16. In any case, it’s
a *really* good song. I’m playing it on repeat.

I was starting to lose

I was starting to lose faith. After a prolonged period of seemingly all-positive
reviews, Beeyotch Feeyork has returned to form with
this review.
Us, the new album from Mull Historical Society seems the
apparent target, but reviewer R. Mitchum also manages to use the review space to completely
take the piss out of Destroyer/New Pornographer Dan Bejar
. I think he actually spends *more* time talking about Dan Bejar than he does about the M.H.S. album. Now this is the Pitchfork we all know and love.

Anyway, I really like that song “The Final Arrears”. You can download it here.
