Also of note is the July 8 release of the Postal Service’s District Sleeps Alone Tonight
12″ single/CD single. It will feature the album version of the song, plus a remix, plus
a remix of “Such Great Heights”, plus a cover of the Flaming Lips’ “Suddenly, Everything
Has Changed.” This should be hot. I’m still diggin’ on their Phil Collins cover that was on
that last DIW 7-inch.

NME reports that Grandaddy’s Jim Fairchild has
been run over by the tour bus. No, he wasn’t
re-enacting a scene from that movie where those
frat guys lie down in the road, nor was there any sign
of Scandinavian “black ice”. Apparently, Fairchild was
kuh-knackered, and fell out the door, under one of the wheels.
Just then, Jason Lytle came walking out
in front of the tour bus, and someone spotted him and
started yelling at the
driver, they were all like “Whoa! Lookout, don’t hit
that Amish dude!”, at which point the driver swerved,
at which point Fairchild’s shoulder
got crunched. Luckily, Grandaddy knows all about
robots and cyborgs and shit, so I’m sure a new
metallic uber-shoulder will soon be in place.
