Unless I’m mistaken, Startime/Fader’s

Unless I’m mistaken, Startime/Fader’s STIFLE 002 should also be out today. I just
got STIFLE 001 yesterday, and yes, it is indeed techno remixes of
the French Kicks’ “Close To Modern”. STIFLE 002 is The Streets’
“Weak Become Heroes”, remixed by Royksopp and 3 Friends ft/ Lisa Shaw.
STIFLE 003 will be VHS or Beta’s “Solid Gold”, remixed by Bob Mould,
Daum Bentley, and Joshua IZ, and should be out October 8th. Judging
by intial press releases, that would make STIFLE 004 (The Ends’ “Are You From The Ends”)
out around November 4th, and STIFLE 005 (Ted Leo’s “Hearts Of Oak”) out around December 2nd.

Just announced is DIW’s Builder
Series Vol. 2. If you’re unfamiliar, DIW is offering a full-length CD every three months
for just the price of shipping, which is $3. Builder #2 is True Love, by
Minmae. Mp3s are here.
Limited to 500 copies.

Finally, prices for CDs may be dropping but cassettes seem to going up. This cassette
by Skellington, Britt Daniel’s pre-Spoon band, just went for twenty five bucks.

In the past few days,

In the past few days, Spoon has not only been
written up in Time magazine
, but also had “The Way We Get By” featured as the lead-in track in
Fox’s new series “OC”. I smell Tony Margherita! Anyway, here’s to Britt and the boys getting paid. It’s
about damn time.

And all traces of the aforementioned Spoon EP seem to have been wiped from the face of Insound. If you still really
want it, looks like it’s still available here.

JV has released the final tracklist
for Cellar Door, which will drop on January 20th.

1 Pale Horse
2 Up Above the Sea
3 Wild Strawberries
4 They Won’t Let Me Run
5 Heated Pool and Bar
6 My Family Tree
7 White Plains
8 Promising Actress
9 Coming and Going on Easy Terms
10 Lunar Landscapes
11 When It Hits My Blood
12 June July

Finally, whether or not you’re a fan (I am) you have to admit that Hal Hartley has
always had great soundtracks for his films. I’ve been diggin’ on this for years now,
but thanks to murmur, I know that I’ll soon also have to pick up this one.

If’n yr one of those

If’n yr one of those who just cannae get enough Spoon, and this is for
you. Insound currently has the Aussie Stay Don’t Go EP on sale. It features
a live version of “Fitted Shirt”, and also “Is This The Last Time” and “In The Right
Place At The Right Time”, ostensibly the “lost tracks” from Kill The Moonlight. jon says
the 12xu Way We Get By EP is hot too.

Centro-Matic’s new one, Love You Just The Same, is out
today. You can check out some mp3s on their site:

:::Flashes and Cables.mp3:::
:::Argonne Limit Co.:::

Velocette’s got 3 new songs up from Beulah’s darker, sparser new record, Yoko,
which drops next week.

Athens band Murder Beach offers up 6(!) mp3s of catchy twee-y indie-pop
from their new record How Big This Is, which you can buy from Twee Kitten for
a measly $5.78. That’s 28.9 cents per song, so you can stop bitching about how overpriced music is.

And (obviously) Modest Mouse’s new “TBD” record did not come out today, and the latest word I could find pointed to
a late October release. And yes, I know
that one song was in another commercial. It’s totally shocking and unexpected that a band signed to EPIC FUCKING RECORDS would
have one of their songs show up in a commercial. Try givin’ up the hatin’ every once in a while. Isaac’s gotta eat too.
