Mp3 from A.C. (Carl) Newman’s The Slow Wonder.
Peefork’s headline reads “The Natural History To Tour”, but they got they tense wrong, it should
read “The Natural History Touring Right Now“, cause I saw ‘em last night. They seem to be playing mostly new material from their
new one, coming out on Startime in September. Resta the tourdates are here.
NPR convo with Vanderslice. via lhb.
And TMT is reporting on the tour and release of the new Clinic record, Winchester Cathedral, which should
be around April, I think, though if memory serves, I think it’s been in the can for almost a year already.
Thufjan Thtevens Theven Thwans (thells theathells by the theathore) is
finally officially out next week, though a limited 7″ of “The Dress Looks Nice On You” b/w “Borderline” has been released
this week by Rough Trade UK.
In June, Matador is releasing a solo album by
New Pornographer Carl Newman, titled The Slow Wonder.
They’re also doing a Cat Power DVD later
in the summer. It would just be way too easy to make a joke here about a 2-hour DVD of someone crying
or running off the stage repeatedly.
From a groggy sleepy state, I half-remembered a minivan commercial
soundtracked by an old Frisbie song, which I found odd. Thing
is, I just saw the commercial again, and it wasn’t Frisbie, it was Pas/Cal’s “Come On Let’s Go“, and for some reason, that don’t seem so odd.

Gramophone’s posted the new Beta Band
single, Assessment.
I hope Nick’s getting into a sort-of-regular
schedule of writing about music now, as it’s a real delight when he does it. The
Mountain Goats piece he
just posted is right on (of course, I really like WSABH, too).
Anyway, I know you’ll find it hard to believe, but listen to Grandpa for once: There really was a time when
Pitchfork posted reviews that didn’t make you want to put your boot through the monitor.
Not sure why I didn’t notice this one before:

Check out the video for TVOTR’s “Staring At The Sun”. Courtesy of Touch & Go.

And finally, the artwork for the new Beta Band disc…yikes.

There’s a bunch of other tracks there, including stuff from Half-Handed Cloud and Soul Junk.
