Insound’s giving away a bonus

Insound’s giving away a bonus The Magician 7″ to all who pre-order Clinic’s Winchester Cathedral. Don’t forget to use code Winchester15 to also get the standard 15% discount.

Later this month, Secretly Canadian will be putting out the next disc in their “Jens Lekman EP Series”. This one’s called You Are The Light. Here’s the title track, sounding kinda like Stephin Merritt covering the Divine Comedy with Wayne Newton’s backing band:

::: You Are The Light :::

Jens’ full-length, When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog, will be out September 7th.

And speaking of EPs, the Poster Children have an EP, On The Offensive, coming out next month. It’s one of those politcally-oriented thingies, but it’s all covers.

Tracklist:

Clampdown (The Clash)
We Don’t Need This Fascist Groove Thang (Heaven 17)
Let’s Have a War (Fear)
The New World (X)
Divide and Conquer (Husker Du)
Complicated Game (XTC)

TMT pointed out this site

TMT pointed out this site that’s hosting an online mix featuring a ton of smaller bands.

TMT also noted that the Postal Service will be releasing *another* single/EP from for “Silhouettes”. Give Up came out in February of 2003.

On a related note, there’s also that exclusive iTunes Death Cab EP now.

New Buckner site.

Andy, aka Andrew Spencer has finally posted an mp3 on his site:

::: Thank God For The Evening News :::

Subpop’s got that Constantines re-release on deck, and has posted an mp3:

::: Arizona :::

They also put up another Rogue Wave track:

::: Every Moment :::

Stefan pointed out that Ten

Stefan pointed out that Ten Fingers Records, Ben Lee’s label with Dim Mak, will be putting out their debut 7″ this month: Ben covering Modest Mouse’s “Float On” b/w “Heard You Got Action” by Pony Up!

Fig.1- Enormogiant John Roderick prepares to crush the wee tiny skeletons of Lee and Schwartzman (and keyboardist Lara).

All this other shit you probably heard about already:

You can stream some tracks from the upcoming Rilo Kiley record (from slatch). You can also download Rilo Kiley covering Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible“.

The Beta Band broke up.

The new Ted Leo leaked.

That new Arcade Fire leaked at some point too.

The new Devendra Banhart, Nino Rojo leaked. You can watch the video for the song “At The Hop” right here.

And hey, if you really like hearin’ a guy with a guitar sing, I think you should check out these tracks by Jose Gonzalez (who is Swedish, of course). From his full-length, Veneer:

::: Remain :::
::: Heartbeats :::
::: Crosses :::

and from the new EP, Stay In The Shade:

::: Stay In The Shade :::
::: Down The Hillside :::
::: Sensing The Owls :::

And yes, it is true that Ronnie James made dios change their name. Makes me think I should probably give up on my idea to start a band called The Malmsteens.

Hey, the August Mix is up. Big thanks to Ben @ Paperrad.org for the banner. Also, thanks to Kaleb for turning me on to a few the included tracks, and special thanks to Branden of The Shatters for giving me the OK to include that great song off their demo disc.
