J Tillman, SSLYBY

Kaleb points us to the new (and now almost sold-out) limited-edition disc by J. Tillman, Long May You Run, J. Tillman, just out on Keep. 150 copies, hand-numbered. Mp3s:

::: My Waking Days :::
::: Seven States Across :::

And speaking of limited edition discs, 75 or Less Records is now up and running and offering up their first two releases: An EP from NY’s A Passing Feeling, and also one from ex-Afghan Whig John Curley’s band, The Staggering Statistics. Both releases are hand-assembled, hand-pressed, and all that good stuff; go check ‘em out.

That combo of Kit Malo art / Alden Penner music that Said The Gramophone posted the other day is really nice.

Hey! Popsheep has a really great track from that new Sunset Rubdown EP. Really, it’s good.

Here’s an mp3 of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin covering a song that 99.999999999% of people out there have probably never heard of:

::: SSLYBY - Accident :::
(Mommyheads cover)

SSLYBY is touring throughout February, and kicked things off early with a last minute show in Cincinnati last night.

Happy New Year

Hey, Happy Chinese New Year. It’s the Year of the Dog, or, if you prefer, DA YEAR OF DA DAWG. Anyway, the new mix is up, check it. The banner comes courtesy of Jeremy Wabiszczwicz, aka Monsters In Disguise dot com. I don’t usually read any magazines, but when I passed by the latest issue of Skyscraper on the newsstand, I just had to pick it up; Jeremy’s cover art was just too nice to pass by.

And I also want to extend a special thanks to Stolen Recordings and Tap Tap for graciously allowing me to include Tap Tap’s “She Does Not Belong” in this month’s mix. The track comes from Stolen’s brand new Compilation disc, which features 21 great little-known English bands. The disc is a limited-edition of 500, in hand-stamped and numbered sleeve, and can be had for £10 via the Stolen Recordings site (and also at Rough Trade Shops).
