Horse Feathers

With today’s glut of mp3 blogs, amidst all that noise being generated daily, I’m glad there are still a handful of sites I can count on to post actual, interesting stuff. Case in point: Wednesday’s Popsheep post. Two great songs from two great bands, neither of which I had ever heard before. Bouncy, Swedish pop from a Stockholm band called Ohm, and swell Blonde Redhead-y stuff from French duo OMR. Go check those out.

Oh, and that Horse Feathers song (from the PDX Pop Now compilation) that Said The Gramophone posted last week is pretty awesome, too.

I’m a firm believer in the notion that there is no program, algorithm, or Web 2.0 service that will ever be able to do better than a recommendation made by a friend that you trust.

Good Shoes – Never Meant To Hurt You

I’ve got this chunk of audio rips from the Good Shoes Myspace that have been steadily growing on me for the past 3 or 4 months. And now they’ve got their upcoming single “All In My Head” streaming, and dammit if that one isn’t great too. It comes out on July 24th as 2 different limited-edition 7-inches and/or CD. But that’s UK only, and because of the horrendous exchange rate, if you want it, you’re gonna be paying about 8 bucks, *plus* shipping, for just one of those. You’d have to be an idiot. Note: I am an idiot.

Hey, did you know that Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin is playing a sort of “Siren Afterparty” show, along with a few other bands, at the Mercury Lounge on July 15th? And then on the 16th, they’re playing a show at Maxwell’s with the undisputed kings of blog-hype, Tapes N’ Tapes. That show is sold out, but if yain’t got a ticket, hey, that’s not the only show in town that night, you know. I shall elaborate next week.

It’s Yewknee Summer Mix time again. You know the drill. Or if you don’t, click on that freaking link and you’ll quickly learn the drill. Durr.

Tap Tap

Whew, six-day weekend; I needed that.

Ok, so. The new Catbird Records disc is *not* back from the plant yet. Sigh. Well, at least I got the new mix posted, and you can check that out to sample yet another track from that amazing Tap Tap CD, which should be out…cripes…”soon.”
